Apartment
It is difficult to find the words to capture the grandeur and opulence of this apartment located in a 16th century castle. It is a registered historical monument built in 1586 as the residence of King Henry the 4th.
The entrance opens onto a large living room with a dining area, the modern, fully-equipped kitchen, and a bedroom with en-suite shower room. The living room is a haven of peace and quiet. The building materials are extraordinary-the original stone of the walls blends harmoniously with the pale marble floor. The sitting area which looks out onto the garden is elevated. The dining area is a few steps down with a table perfect for intimate dining or entertaining. Just off the living room is the boudoir - a cozy room with period stone walls lined with cushions, beautifully furnished.
The kitchen is spacious, modern, and fully equipped. A marble staircase leads to the second floor. Rooms on the second floor distribute off of a mezzanine overlooking the living room. Upstairs there is a separate office area with high-speed internet access, a bedroom with en-suite shower room and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a dressing room. The master bedroom is bathed in rosy hues with a sumptuous leather bed. The master bathroom is entirely in rose marble which continues into the adjoining mirrored dressing room.
This magnificent apartment is paired with a private garden which has a table and chairs for outdoor dining and a hammock. This private garden is a rare refuge in bustling Paris.
Area
Francs-Bourgeois's street is one of the longer and the most interesting of le Marais. Starting from BEAUBOURG (rue Rambuteau), it is a today a trendy street extremely appreciated for all the fashion stores. Note that this street is opened on sunday. So, many people come to brunch and walk there at the end of the week. Impossible to miss it if you visit le Marais. We can still discover several hotels particuliers, (ancient private mansions), from past centuries : Hôtel Carnavalet, Lamoignon, Sandreville, d'Albret, d'Alméras, Poussepin, de Coulanges, Hérouet, de Jaucourt, de Fontenay, de Breteuil. Hotel Carnavalet houses the museum of the history of Paris. Yesteryear, this street was called : rue des Poulies. But, in 1415, a so-called le Mazurier offered to the grand Prieur of France, a huge private mansion with 24 bedrooms to receive 48 poor people. These people was so poor they didnt pay the taxes of the city and were called : francs-bourgeois. That means the origin of the street's name.
